If the encoder is not reporting correct values, determine if the PLC and Optimizer are both incorrect. If one is tracking correctly, the encoder to the junction termination split point in the scanner cabinet is good.
Verify the set IPC value(inches per count) on each device, and that this value is the same for the PC and PLC
Reference the carriage position, and recheck position as the carriage travels
If both the PLC and PC are reporting incorrectly
Check the encoder, if the shaft deviates significantly it can break the glass ring inside the encoder
Check the cable, and terminations back to the Encoder Junction Box, and to the Scanning Cabinet for wear, damage, or pulled wires
If PLC is reporting incorrectly
Check the Encoder PLC, and the FC-ISO-C signal conditioner.
If PC is reporting incorrectly
Check Scansync Device (Joescan Scansync for js50s etc)
Check scanner troubleshooting page on the Optimizer Application, are all heads reporting an encoder position. Is it tracking as the carriage moves. Are all heads reporting the same encoder position
